Education for Elevation

Established in 2002 by the Community Development Corporation of Metropolitan Baptist Church, the MRLC (Metropolitan Resurrection Learning Center) is a workforce development center reaching out to the greater Newark community in collaboration with Essex County and the City of Newark.

The MRLC is committed to developing the self-esteem and work readiness skills of students age 18 – 60. Training is provided in Café Food Services including New Jersey Food Handling Certification. Computer Literacy provides rudimentary computer skills and training with the software used in job-entry level office work. Through Low Literacy, students learn the reading,  writing and speaking skills needed  for daily life,  and develop the capacity to enroll in the GED class to earn their high school equivalency diploma.

The MRLC Board of Directors and Staff believe education at any stage of life is enriching and worthwhile. Through MRLC, the education provided is intended to help elevate and enhance the quality of life of all students enrolled in the program.
