Exploring Membership

The Doors Are Always Open

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have ever lasting life ." John 3:16

The doors to Metropolitan Baptist Church are always open to anyone who believes in our Lord, Jesus Christ as their personal savior and heeds God's call to become a part of our church family. At the end of each service, Pastor Jefferson extends the invitation to become a believer in this local church body, please feel free to join us. Our primary focus is to help each member develop their true potential as followers of Jesus Christ.

How Do I Join?

Step out into the aisle, take the Deacon's hand and he will escort you up to the front. All you must do is verbally confess your faith. There are three ways a person may join Metropolitan Baptist Church:

  1. By Believer’s Baptism by Immersion: an act of obedience when a person receives Jesus Christ as Savior. It symbolizes the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior.
  2. By Letter: transfer of letter from another church of like faith and order.
  3. By Statement of Faith: whenever a person is coming to our church from a church that teaches salvation by grace alone and also practices believer’s baptism.

Right Hand of Fellowship

On the first Sunday of every month, during our 11:30 AM service, Pastor Jefferson extends the Right Hand of Fellowship to those who have completed their New Disciples' classes and participated in the Holy Ordinance of full water immersion baptism . This is a special time for the Metropolitan Baptist Church family. Our new members receive a certificate of completion and welcomed by the congregation.

Once you have become a member at Metropolitan Baptist Church, we want you to begin to feel at home. The surest way to start that process is through active participation in our Sunday Morning Family Bible School classes. Here you will find caring and supportive teachers, friends, and in-depth Bible Study experiences. As you make yourself at home at Metropolitan, God will show you where he wants you to serve in the ministry of this church, His body of Christ.
